We are a team of 6 in grades K-4 in the Tularosa Basin of Tularosa, New Mexico. We have 2 veteran team members that have been on the team for at least 2 years. The rest are rookie team members and we BEE-lieve that the spirit of this team gives us enough courage to be "batty"! We enjoy meeting weekly and working with our FLL teams #19306, #24378, and #25324. We bring Timmie the Telescope to our community, demonstrate "You Be the Chemist" science activities to Big Brothers Big Sisters youth, and share field trip experiences to Carlsbad Caverns for more research on our Creature Craze project. This year we are fortunate to help start 12 new FLL jr teams and host a summer camp for FIRST enthusiasts!
Team Research:
The Hive has chosen the bat as our animal while we focus weekly during the team meetings on how bats interact with bees. We have learned many details about bats and how they co-existence with bees. Did you know that bats are like bees because they are pollinators too? Both these creatures like to make their homes in quiet locations out in nature, such as orchards and grassy areas that have natural feeding areas to allow both to thrive while in their habitats. Team members also had the chance to scout around Carlsbad Caverns for more facts about the bats making homes in unique places of New Mexico. We can't wait to share more research at the NMFLL Expo in Albuquerque!
